This coffee comes to us from the Kibingo Central Washing Station located in Kayanza commune in northern Burundi. It handles crops from approximately 3600 registered growers. Each producer harvests from an average of 300 tress. The station itself has 10 fermentation tanks, 2 soaking tanks and a drying field with 170 raised beds. Kayanza is one of the most reputable growing regions of Burundi, known for its rich volcanic soil and year round optimal growing conditions.
This coffee when brewed has a dense, thick body, and is heavy on the tongue like jam. Its flavor profile as you might expect from a natural is fruity and exotic. We taste stone fruits like plums. And as ever, more depth and flavor is revealed as the coffee cools, where a blackberry note begins to come forth from the cup.
The coffee is for those that enjoy the fruitier heavier bodied exotic coffees.
