A delicious chuggable ethiopian that ticks all the boxes you expect from a grade one washed coffee from the Hambela Guji region. This coffee comes to you from the washing station owner, Kedir Hassan and "Dabaye" is the name of the kebele (a town or more less) where this Hambela station is located. Hambela sits at 1816 meters above sea level, and coffee is grown as high as 2100 meters. They mostly buy coffee from farmers in the surrounding kebeles of Buliye, Wamena, Borticha, Dari Rogicha and Dabaye, of course.
Kedir Hassan is an incredibly proficient and capable engineer as well as an attentive coffee farmer, and built the entire Hambela station in one season. Of course he did not complete the station on his own, and thanks to his long standing connection with the people in this area, he had much needed community support. The washing station is highly proficient and has everything its workers need to produce both washed and natural lots of the highest calibre.
Delicate in flavors yet still juicy and creamy in the mouthfeel. Stone fruits permeate the cup with peaches and nectarines dominating. There is an impressive sweetness and body, think demurara sugar and cream soda. As the coffee cools down some, you may be able to pick up on some more flavor notes outside of peaches and nectarines; we got Meyer lemons and a little clove too. And of course as is the case with any top lot Ethiopian there are florals for days........
As the nights draw in and you're looking for sweetness to be brought back into your world let this Ethiopian shine a light on your mornings.
