This coffee comes from the "Fram" farm which is a small single estate farm located in Kiambu in the foothills of Gatamaiyo Forest Reserve.
At 1850m above sea level and approximately 30 hectares of land, the Kariruki family have planted almost exclusively the SL28 Varietal.
SL 28 is a prized coffee varietal that has found its best growing conditions in the powerhouse of East African coffee - Kenya. The soil, the climate combined with the history and experience of producing world class washed coffees has seen SL28 flourish in Kenya.
SL 28 coffee varietal is prized for its complexity and bright cup quality. And in Kenya it is ultimately prized for its blackcurrant note. This Kenyan has all three of those qualities.
Expect intense and tart dark fruit flavors, citric rinds and black currant tea. All underpinned by a raw sugar sweetness.
